Venezuela’s geography is marked by sharp contrasts, from the towering Andes in the west to the expansive Llanos in the center and the tepui plateaus in the southeast. The capital, Caracas, lies in a mountain valley just inland from the Caribbean coast. Angel Falls, the world’s highest uninterrupted waterfall, is a highlight in Canaima National Park, while Los Roques National Park offers clear waters and coral reefs across its many islands. The dry season from December to April is the preferred time to visit the Caribbean coast and islands, coinciding with major events like the pre-Lenten Carnival in coastal towns.
Angel Falls
Located in Canaima National Park, Angel Falls plummets 979 m with an uninterrupted 807 m drop—the highest waterfall on Earth.
Pre-Lenten Carnival
Attend lively Carnival celebrations in Carúpano or on Margarita Island, key coastal spots for this major annual event.
Main Gateway
Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía serves Caracas and the central coast, providing access to inland and coastal destinations.
